Programs

Food Share

The Food Share program distributes nutritious food to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Through partnerships with local grocers, farmers, food banks, and community organizations, Food Share increases access to fresh and culturally appropriate foods and supports the well‑being of community. The program is resident‑led and designed to operate with dignity and respect. As communities come together, individuals also contribute to the nutritious food being shared, strengthening the collective effort to ensure everyone has access to healthy meals.

Our Community Development programs bring people together to build stronger, more connected neighbourhoods through inclusive opportunities for learning, leadership, and collaboration.

Who Can Access This Service?

Service Area

The Food Share program is available to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity within the Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre (EORC) catchment area.
Because the program operates through specific funding streams, the number of available spaces is limited, and participation may vary based on resource availability. The program is resident‑led and grounded in dignity and respect, ensuring that all participants feel welcomed and supported as they access nutritious, fresh, and culturally appropriate foods.

Eligibility Requirements

To receive support through the Food Share program, participants must reside within the EORC catchment area and identify a need for food assistance. Individuals and families must be willing to participate in a respectful, community‑based environment where neighbours support one another in accessing and sharing healthy food. No formal referral or documentation is required—only a demonstrated need and a commitment to upholding the program’s values of dignity, inclusion, and mutual support.

Participants must also be registered EORC clients to access the program.
