Client Rights & Responsibilities

The EORC is committed to providing a welcoming and respectful environment where clients can build positive, trusting relationships with our staff. This page outlines the rights and responsibilities of clients when accessing programs and services at EORC, ensuring that everyone is treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.

Clients have the right to:

  • Be treated with courtesy and respect, upholding their dignity, privacy, and autonomy.
  • Have their unique needs, choices, and preferences respected.
  • Receive clear information about available services and who will provide them.
  • Participate in assessing their needs, creating, and updating their service plan.
  • Give or withhold consent for any service.
  • Express concerns or make suggestions without fear of reprisal.
  • Be informed of service policies and procedures.
  • Know how to file a complaint.
  • Expect confidentiality of personal information and files.
  • Request to view their file through the program coordinator.
  • Receive services in the official language (French or English) they feel most comfortable with.

Clients are responsible for:

  • Treating staff, volunteers, and other clients with courtesy and
  • Communicating clearly when information is unclear.
  • Providing honest, accurate information relevant to their needs.
  • Avoiding substance use that interferes with safe and effective service delivery.
