Reaching Out to Strengthen our Communities
The Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre (EORC) is a non-profit organization offering social and community services to older adults and adults with physical disabilities residing in Blackburn Hamlet, Beacon Hill, Carlsbad Springs, Gloucester South, Orleans, Cumberland, Navan, Vars, and Sarsfield.
The EORC is committed to supporting older adults and adults with a physical disability live independent, active, and meaningful lives in their community. Our goal is to help individuals stay in their own homes as long as they so choose by connecting clients with the care and help they need. Thanks to the efforts of our committed staff and dependable, screened volunteers, the EORC plays a vital role in making our community a vibrant and accessible place.

ADULT DAY PROGRAM: Provides supervised activities in a group setting for older adults and older adults with Alzheimer disease or related disorders, dementia or physical disability. This service assists the participants to achieve and maintain their maximum level of functioning, to prevent early or inappropriate institutionalization and provides respite and caregiver support to significant others.
YOUNG ONSET DEMENTIA DAY PROGRAM: Provides supervised activities in a group setting for adults with Alzheimer disease, related disorders or dementia. This service supports elements of independence and choice and recognizes the importance of age appropriate programming while providing respite and caregiver support to significant others.

CAREGIVER SUPPORT (FREE): Are you providing help to a spouse, parent, relative or friend? Contact us for individual and/or group support, education, referrals and system navigation.

CLIENT INTERVENTION AND ASSISTANCE: Life’s changes and challenges can leave individuals in crisis, unsure of where to turn for help. Our goal is to help individuals by connecting them with the care and help they need.

HOME HELP/HOME MAINTENANCE: Providing access to safe, reliable workers for housecleaning and maintenance, indoors and out to ensure you live in a clean and safe home environment.
RESPITE: Providing access to safe and reliable workers for respite, companionship and personal care.
SNOW GO/Snow GO ASSIST: A city of Ottawa program to support seniors and adults with disabilities cover the cost of snow removal. *Pending availability of funds.

Grocery Bus:
Offering transportation, delivery and accompaniment to and from local grocery stores. Services available in Gloucester, Blackburn, Orleans/Cumberland and Gloucester South, Vars, and Carlsbad Springs.
Transportation: $11
Hot Meals: Full course meals, ready to eat! Delivery available Monday through Friday. $8.25 per meal.
Frozen Meals Regular (Apetito): Soups $3.33ea., Entrées $6.92ea., Dessert $3.33ea. 7 Entrées $45.00. Ordering and delivery available bi-weekly.

FOOT CARE: As we age it can become more difficult to reach our feet. Additionally, medical conditions such as diabetes require special attention be paid to the health and care of our feet to prevent serious complications. Foot care services are provided by a Registered Practical Nurse with specialized training and sterile tools. Services are in home and at clinics throughout the east end including the Orleans Health Hub.

FRIENDLY VISITING (FREE): Whether you want to receive a call or visit from a volunteer, or you would like to volunteer to call others, it is a great way to meet new people and make connections. Share activities, interests or stories with an individually matched volunteer.
TELEPHONE ASSURANCE (FREE): Providing the piece of mind of a daily or weekly check in call.
GROUP EXCERSISE (FREE): Join us for group exercises sessions specially designed for seniors to improve strength, balance and mobility. Sessions available in person, online and over the phone.
GENTLE YOGA STRETCH (FREE): Treat your mind and body and take some time for self care by joining us for Gentle Yoga Stretch.
SENIORS WITHOUT WALLS: Provides the opportunity for participants to join in on health and wellness seminars, educational lectures, brain-stimulating activities, listen to live musical entertainment, join in on general conversations – all from the comfort of home! Programs are multi-person phone conversations (or conference calls). No special equipment needed – just your average phone!

TRANSPORTATION: Offering transportation to medical appointments, essential services and social programming. Priority is given to requests for transportation for medical appointments. Please call at least 7 days prior to the appointment to request transportation.
GROCERY BUS: Offering transportation, accompaniment and delivery to and from local grocery stores. Services available in Gloucester, Blackburn, Orleans/Cumberland and Gloucester South, Vars, and Carlsbad Springs.
