Nature of the work

The Transportation Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operations of the transportation department. This position creates an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture that motivates team members to achieve organizational goals. Training, coaching and mentoring team members are important components of this role and are key to developing a strong, cohesive unit. In addition, this role undertakes key initiatives that strengthen EORC’s organizations capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct program-related client intake and needs assessments through individual interviews.
    • Meet with client in person or by telephone, including family/caregiver when required.
    • Make appropriate referrals to other programs and services as needed and play and advocacy role where appropriate.
    • Address client and/or family concerns and requests.
    • Identify and find solutions when the program is no longer appropriate or can no longer meet the needs of the client.
  • Responsible for fleet coordination.
    • Schedule maintenance as needed.
    • Maintain complete records for all vehicles.
    • Handle vehicle inspections and licensing.
    • Ensure vehicles are fully equipped with required seasonal and safety supplies.
    • Assist with supply and equipment purchasing.
  • Address scheduling challenges that arise.
  • Receive calls from clients with complaints, cancellations or problems and settle them tactfully and appropriately.
  • Mobilize and coordinate appropriate resources to respond to the needs of clients.
  • Coordinate work assignment for volunteers and drivers (schedules, tasks, lists, etc.).

What we would like to find in you

  • College or university degree in a field related to the position, or equivalent work experience.
  • Two years’ experience with the delivery of community support services or Seniors related programming.
  • Experience successfully leading a complex team.
  • Experience providing training to team members.
  • Experience leading successful projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with program design and delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-service team.
  • Fluency in oral and written communication skills in English and French. French language skills are mandatory.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
